Summary
On the 4th April we were invited to the Old Cytringanian Association Annual General Meeting and Annual Dinner. Upon arrival we were shown to our seats and were given drinks. Within minutes an Old Boy had come up to us and hard started to tell us about his first lesson with Mr John Cowell (see an explosive first lesson), he then went on to give us another ‘Troll’ quote. I have to say, it’s incredible how quickly we as the Southfield Team have managed to latch on to the old nicknames, you definitely don’t get it now a days. Harry Pope then took us up to the Annual Meeting; I have to say if all meetings were like that I have no idea why my Dad always complains about them! Witty banter and glasses were exchanged and we were made to feel very welcome by all.
Then we went back to our seats, we attempted to mingle but we weren’t really sure what the correct etiquette was for the dinners, so we pretty much left everyone to themselves.
We had already formed a great many ideas that hopefully you will soon see on the website.
A massive thanks and well done needs to go towards the caterers. The food was lovely, we didn’t get to talk to the Old Boys very much as everyone was to engrossed in their food! We did manage to chat with some people though, They asked us what our parents thought of us being here and got a mixed answer, Becky’s parents didn’t believe that she was really going to the meal and Heidi’s, Cherie’s and my parents all just took it in their stride as if it was perfectly normal for us to go to Annual Dinners unaccompanied.
The speech given by Stuart Welsh was entertaining and interesting. We enjoyed ourselves so much and we were made to feel so comfortable and welcome.
We would like to say thank you to Harry Pope and Ray Fullilove who invited us and settled us in, a big thanks again to the caterers, thanks also needs to go to the Old Boys who let us sit in on their meeting and finally thanks to all the Old Boys who welcomed us, talked to us and who have looked on this website. We hope that you like it and that it has done you all justice.
